Marina Baig, Secretary of the Midwifery Association of Pakistan (MAP) and Senior Instructor at the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery (AKUSONAM), and Farzana Adnan, Senior Instructor at AKUSONAM, proudly represented the Midwives Alliance of Asia (MAA) at the UAE International Midwifery Conference (UAEIMC) 2024. Held from November 9-10 at the Le Meridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Centre, Dubai, UAE, the conference focused on “Midwifery Practice: Fostering Conducive Environments for Improved Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Adolescent Health (SRMNAH) Care.”

Organized by the Emirates Nursing Association (Midwifery Section) and endorsed by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), Saudi Association of Midwifery, Bahrain Nursing and Midwifery Society, and in partnership with Fatima College of Health Sciences, the conference gathered midwives, educators, and researchers from around the world. Through panel discussions, workshops, and focused sessions, the event presented evidence-based research on holistic approaches to improve SRMNAH outcomes, advancing midwifery practice globally.

Representing MAA and MAP on behalf of Dr. Rafat Jan, President of MAP, Marina and Farzana, alongside their colleague Dr. Jameela Mukhaimer from the Nursing and Midwifery Society Bahrain, had the honor of sharing MAA’s mission and vision with regional midwifery associations, organizations, and midwives. Their active participation included distributing the MAA Declaration, furthering advocacy efforts and strengthening MAA’s influence in the region.

This significant opportunity was made possible with the support of NVF and BMG funding, along with the technical support of MAP and AKUSONAM, ensuring the continued growth and sustainability of MAA through enhanced partnerships and an expanding membership base.
